〇Time: 9 AM - 12PM
〇Location: Northwood Elementary School Cafeteria
〇Class size: Max 10 people (minimum 3 to have class)
〇Age: 12+
〇Fee: $250 (Materials: Includes Rental of ink stones and brushes, and provides all the Gasenshi, paper for Sumie used during the classes )

It's best to get medium-sized and small-sized brushes if you can.

What do I learn during 5 days?

You are learning Shikunshi (四君子).
Master the fundamental brush techniques of traditional Japanese ink painting. By practicing the Shikunshi (the bamboo, Chinese orchid, plum, and chrysanthemum), students gain the essential skills needed to paint any subject in Sumi-e.

-5 gradation and shading echniques: Kataguma, Sakiguma, Uchiguma Ryoguram, Motoguma

-Sabaki-fude & Warifude: Mastering specialized "split-brush" techniques for expressive textures.

Understand the difference
between Sumi-e and other art forms.

Day 2nd. Drawing Chinese Orchid

〇Ryoguma (両隈)

Day4th. Drawing Chrysanthemums

〇Learn Sabaki fude

Day 5th. Drawing Peony
