I am Japanese and have lived in Anchorage, Alaska for about fifteen years. I graduated from art school in Tokyo, Japan. While I have enjoyed drawing, oil, and acrylic painting as my hobby for several years, I’ve been inspired and wanted to learn Sumie, Japanese ink painting. Luckily I met Sensei Toh-un, a master of Sumie, and learned some techniques and realized how wonderful Sumie is. Since I live in Alaska and am surrounded by magnificent natural views, I decided to express this wild natural beauty through Sumie (Japanese Ink paint.) I am also enthusiastic about sharing this enjoyment with anyone who loves art.
